Saturday, November 6th, was the first day of the Sacred Heart Holiday food and toy program. Families began waiting at 7:30pm the night before, ensuring they could reserve a food box for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and sign up for the toy distribution on December 22nd. Hundreds of volunteers arrived to help, some starting as early as 6:30am. As they walked into the agency, they saw the line of families that stretched two blocks. "It shows how important the food is. They wait in the cold, wrapping themselves and their children in blankets", said one volunteer as she watched the line grow.
