
Volunteer Spotlight: Compassion Week, a Collective Los Altos Effort
Since its inception at the Los Altos United Methodist Church (LAUMC) in 2013, more than 14,800 volunteers have participated in Compassion Week activities, supporting over 50 nonprofits. Sacred Heart is one of these partners and has worked with LAUMC for over a decade to bring volunteers and services to our community.

Program Spotlight – Housing Program
The Family Assistance Department of Sacred Heart Community Service (SHCS) operates one of the largest sites in the Santa Clara County Homelessness Prevention System (HPS). We offer other direct financial assistance to support households with financial need and prevent community members from being unhoused.

Sacred Heart Reads – Bedlam
“Bedlam”, a documentary by Kenneth Rosenberg, sheds a light on what it’s like to be mentally ill in America. Inspired by his own family issues with mental illness, Rosenberg expertly weaves multiple stories of people and their families dealing with mental illness, as well as the history of the mental health system in the USA.
