Sacred Heart's Youth Action Committee (YAC)
About Us
We are a dedicated group of high school students from across the Bay Area, united by a shared passion for making a meaningful difference in our community. As the Youth Action Committee, we believe that every small act can create a ripple effect of positive change. Our mission is to bridge generations and foster connections through impactful civic engagement, hands-on community service, and educational opportunities.

Who We Are
YAC brings together high school students who want to lead, serve, and advocate. We work alongside Sacred Heart Community Service to address critical issues in San José and the broader Bay Area. Whether it's food security, healthcare access, housing, or holiday giving, our members learn to see community needs and respond with action.

Quienes Somos
FUNDRAISING
Encourages youth to step up and make a meaningful difference through innovative fundraising efforts. Young leaders support projects that address food security, affordable housing, healthcare, and holiday gifts for children and families.
Our Four Pillars
VOLUNTEERING
Focuses on providing monthly volunteer opportunities at the Sacred Heart facility- sorting clothes donations, packing produce bags, and directly assisting community members at Sacred Heart's annual events.
ADVOCACY & SOCIAL OUTREACH
Empowers young people to become changemakers by providing tools, support, and a platform to voice their concerns and advocate for mental health, education, and social equity through leadership training and peer collaboration.
PUBLIC HEALTH
Believes young people have the power to improve public health through raising awareness, educating peers, and advocating for better access to quality healthcare - from health fairs to mental health campaigns on social media.
-
What We're Doing
Our current work focuses on amplifying youth voices in civic spaces and connecting members with real-world service learning every month. We are hosting holiday food distribution events, Thanksgiving fundraising campaigns, and mental health awareness outreach across San José schools. Your voice and presence matter! Bring your friends and join us in building a more equitable Bay Area.
