On The Catwalk!
Economic Justice Network hosts an employment fair and a career fashion show.
On Thursday, August 28, Sacred Heart’s Economic Justice Network hosted a dynamic career resource event connecting community members with local job recruiters and essential job readiness tools. Attendees enjoyed practical support like makeup tutorials, free interview clothing, and even a lively Career Catwalk fashion show featuring stylish yet workplace-ready outfits. Monnie Atolley, Sacred Heart’s Employment Resource Navigator Specialist, shared how events like this help empower job seekers and strengthen our community.
Q: Tell us a little bit about the event and why it’s so important.
M: The fair was about connecting community members with employment resources and opportunities, especially with employers who are open to second-chance hiring. That’s crucial for formerly incarcerated community members re-entering the workforce. What made it special was offering clothing that helped people feel confident and prepared for job interviews. The event gave people a glimpse of the many resources EJN provides.
Q: What other services does the Economic Justice Network offer?
M: We help with job applications, resume support, mock interviews, and setting up LinkedIn or Indeed profiles. Our computer lab is always available, and we even partner with Project Glimmer to support people with interview readiness—including makeup. Anyone interested can reach out to me to get connected.
